1. System Preconditions
For using the program BOSCH-BDE, your PC should
at least meet the system preconditions listed below:
- Intel Pentium II 200 MHz or higher
- 64 MB RAM
- 100 MB free storage capacity on hard disk
- 16-bit sound card
- 16-fold CD ROM drive
- SVGA (800 x 600 pixel; 16 bit depth of color)
- Microsoft Windows 95/98 or NT 4.0 SP5/ Windows 2000
- Windows Media Player 6.4
To speed-up program flow, you can either install parts of the BOSCH-BDE program, or the entire BOSCH-BDE program on your hard disk. Further information, see section 3.
2. Program Start
You can directly start BOSCH-BDE from the CD. For that purpose, click the program BOSCH BDE on the CD.
Apart from that, different variants of BOSCH-BDE can be selected for installation. Further information can be found in section 3. After a successful installation, you can start the program from the Windows start menu.
HINT: If you directly start the program from the CD, and you do even not use at least the 'Small Installation Variant[2]', you will not be able to set the revised status in the single information units.
3. Install BOSCH-BDE
It is possible to install different variants of BOSCH-BDE on your PC. This, among others, optimizes the speed of the program. Moreover, you have the possibility to mark certain information units as revised.
To install BOSCH-BDE, click the program SETUP on the CD and follow the instructions given on the screen.
The following installation variants are available:
[1] Minimal Installation Variant (approx. 500 kBytes)
The minimal installation only sets the components on your hard disk that are an absolute 'must'. This includes an entry in the start menu.
HINT: With this variant, you will not be able to store the revised status of information units!
[2] Small Installation Variant (approx. 8 MB)
The small installation variant copies the files that are required for storage of the revised status of information units, and the files needed for quick access.
[3] Standard Installation Variant (approx. 45 MB)
The standard installation copies all files to your hard disk that are necessary for assuring optimal execution of the program. This includes program files and corresponding data base.
[4] Complete Installation (approx. 380 MB)
The complete installation copies all data to your hard disk. Thereby, you can run the program, even without inserting the CD in your drive.
At the end of the installation, you have the possibility to install QuickTime 4. You need this component for representation of interactive 3D views. Should QuickTime have already been installed on your PC, you can skip this point.
4. Uninstall BOSCH-DE
In order to uninstall BOSCH-BDE, select "Deinstallation von BOSCH-BDE" [Uninstall BOSCH-BDE] from the generated BOSCH program group in the start menu. As an alternative, you can also uninstall the program by the corresponding option in the module 'Software' of your system control panel. Follow the instructions on the screen.
5. Representation of Videos
The representation of videos is realized via an interface of the Windows operating system, provided by the Windows MediaPlayer. Should problems arise regarding videos (e.g. jerks, full screen view), it could be that this component does not meet the required system preconditions.
In this case, you can try to update the respective component. For this, start the program instaxds.exe from the CD in the SUPPORT folder. Please take into account the information in the files EULA.DOC or EULA.HTM.
6. Removal of Screen Saver
The BOSCH-BDE program offers the possibility to install a BOSCH-BDE screen saver on your system. When you would like to remove this screen saver again, please erase the following files from your WINDOWS folder:
* BOSCH BDE-GDI.scr
* BOSCH BDE-GDI.exe
* BOSCH BDE-GDI.dll
* BOSCH BDE-GDI.dat (if present)
