instructions:
1. Update the firmware to version 0824 posted in the forum.
2. Update the maps.
3. Apply the medicine.
It is worth any class 10 card to avoid any unwanted error.
update instructions:
The easy way
* Download Maps, extract and copy to a FAT32 formattted SD card
SD card in slot 1 of your RNS850
Press "PHONE" + "SETUP" for approx 3 seconds, engineeering menu will popup
* Select actualization, select slot 1 with the Maps-SD card.
* Follow instructions.
When process is finished reboot RNS850 (PHONE + center KNOB + NAV)
Check in the engineering menu that You have new maps version 6.23.2
Maps activation from former activations remains active, no need to activate them again.
If the update process is very short, only a few minutes then probably something went wrong
Check your Maps version in the engineering menu, if its still the old maps version You will have to follow
The user defined way:
Enter green menu (CAR + SETUP for a few seconds)
* go to system -> swdl
* select user defined by pressing center knob
* Quit green menu by pressing any RNS850 key
Insert SD card with Maps
Enter engineering menu
Select actualization
* Select user defined
* Now You will see along list with different components.
* Select the first item having an "N"
Don't pay attention to N/A (not available)
You will see "Bootloader" and "application"
Select "application"
go back
After that the item will have a "Y"
* Repeat this procedure for each item having an "N" on the right side.
Afterwards You can start the update process by pressing the download button on top of the SW-actualization menu.
Wait....
(my update took nearly 3 hours)
Warning: In any case make sure that ignition is always on and the battery is not drained (engine running or charger)
Otherwise You risk having a very expensive brick
Reboot RNS850
Check Your Maps version again.
